What To Expect / How To Prepare
The Itinerary
The Preparation
It is important that you arrive well prepared for your llama trek. Good hiking shoes, comfortable clothing apporpriate for the days weather are needed for all treks. During the summer months sun protection may be important. Those participating in a Wilderness day trek should bring lunch and water. For the Columbia River Gorge 1/2 day trek, be prepared with water, and snacks. Of course don’t forget your phone as you’ll be taking lots of “llama selfies”. Our friendly llamas will be carrying your lunch and extra supplies, so do not worry about over packing.
The Arrival
When you arrive at our llama ranch or one of our trailhead meet-up locations you will be greeted by your friendly llamas and you professional llama guide. Your llama guide will get you all checked in and take you through a complete orientation. In no time at all, you’ll understand the basic concepts needed to trek with your wooly friend along with many interesting fun facts about llamas and the land that you you will be trekking on.
The Trek
No matter what trek you’ve chosen, it will be a great adventure. Treks vary in degree of physical difficulty from easy to moderately difficult. The landscapes of the treks are even more diverse with oppotunities to trek along a river, in dense forest canopy, through wide open canyon walls (great views of the Columbia River Gorge) and even high alpine lakes near glaciers.
