When Spring has sprung, but the mountain trails are still covered in snow, this low elevation trek is in full swing and full beauty. As we trek along the Klickitat River you will be trekking through beauty and history. Lewis and Clark wrote that the Native Americans that they met here were the friendliest they met on thier mission to reach the Pacific Ocean. Located on the very east shoulder of the Cascade Mountains where the sun shines up to 300 days per year. This warmer climate and lower elevation gives way to a pine and oak forest where wildlife abounds. The river itself is full of salmon, steelhead and trout along with the occasional river otter. River birds are common in the forms of waterfoul and birds of prey. Deer, mariam turkey and other small game love this area.
This particular trek is fairly wide open giving ample opportunity for scenic photography and soaking up the sunshine.
The typical Half Day Klickitat River Llama Trek includes hiking 3.5-4.5 miles round trip and includes elevation gains of 10 feet per mile. All trekking is done on a maintained trail and start as well as terminate at public trail-heads. A Northwest Forest day-use pass is required for your vehilce and can be purchased online
