Farm & Forest Llama Trek

The Farm & Forest llama trek is an easy adventure right at our Trout Lake, Washington llama ranch. The trail is gental, the forest is beautiful and the llamas are fun. Take a leisurly trail hike through a forest canopy of Douglas Fir, Pine and Western Red Cedar trees on the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains where deer, elk, sasquach, and mushrooms thrive. Try your hand at leading your llama through an obstical course at the ranch all preceded by and educational llama orientation in the great room (llama barn) where you will get to know your llama and the ins and outs of how to handle/lead them. 

Season: May- September

Difficulty:  Easy – Very flat trail hiking
Time Budget: 2.5 hours
Distance: 2 Miles round trip. Almost zero elevation gain & loss.

Full Day Wilderness Llama Trek

Alpine lakes, timberline trails, glacial views, lava formationa dn all the flora and fauna that goes with is what you can experience while trekking with your llama in the Cascade Mountians of Washington near the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. Your llama will become your new best friend as you trek down the trail together. Bring a hearty lunch, extra jacket, binoculars or whatever you might need and let your willing llama carry it all in for you. There will be plenty of time for llama selfies with extrodinary views in the quiet of the forest. you bring your own sack lunch, snacks, beveragte and your sure footed llama will do all of the heavy lifting! Lets hit the trail and enjoy a day in nature with the llamas.

Season: July -September
Difficulty: Moderate – Back country trail hiking
Time Budget: 5-7 hours
Distance: 5-11 miles round trip with 600-2100 feet of elevation gain.

Location: You will meet your llama and trail guide at the Northwest Llama Trek headquarters at 1917 Hwy 141 Trout Lake, Washington 98650 and then caravan to the selected trail-head.

Half Day Klickitat River Llama Trek

Llama trek your way along the Klickitat River for a leisurely 2.5 – 3.5 miles of flat terrain along a major tributary of the Columbia River.  While high elevation trail systems are snowed in, this low elevation system with virtually no elevation gain or loss is our perfect early season trek. Birders and wildlife watchers love this trek as opportunity abounds to see deer, turkey, merganzer, osprey, otters and more. Let your llama carry the snacks, water and anything else as you enjoy an easy hike in a beautiful canyon. Lewis and Clark named this river “Cataract” which means it “stands on its side”. There is an amazing amount of history here as Lewis and Clark called the Native Americans they met here the friendliest people they had met on their journey to the pacific ocean.
